Additional Notes on Bilingual Immersion Programs

- Teacher Expertise:
Immersion programs usually require teachers who are fluent in both languages. Teachers may be native speakers or have advanced language skills to maintain a bilingual environment.
- Benefits of Immersion:
- Cultural Exposure: In addition to language learning, students gain exposure to diverse cultures and traditions.
- Language Proficiency: Children can become fluent in both languages, which is beneficial for their future academic and social development.
- Social Skills: Immersion fosters socialization in both languages, making children more adaptable in diverse settings.
- Program Considerations:
-
- Bilingual immersion programs often have a slightly higher cost due to the specialized curriculum, materials, and staffing needs.
- Some programs offer additional activities like music, art, and outdoor play in both languages to enhance immersion.
